We believe in the inevitable success of a child who gathers with family and frequently shares a meal. We hear of top Fortune 500 companies whose chief officers share a common thread: eating dinner as a family at least three times a week. As my own child rearing years continue, mealtime is my solace. Gathering together at mealtime deepens our understanding and compassion for each other. It suggests we look at one another, drawing us closer as we communicate and contemplate.
Often, added guests dish up healthy doses of much needed wisdom and advice. Although I couldn’t give my children all I desired, I could feed them daily, break bread, give thanks for them, thus, instilling confidence and refined attributes. Gathering together creates cherished memories; one meal at a time, as our lives unfold around the table. This has proven to give them much more than I ever dreamed possible.
My hope is this book may empower the reader with simple ideas to enhance mealtime in your home, around your circle of influence of family and friends. Having a meal plan is half the battle. Gathering your family, making friends your family and family your friends is certainly celebrating life.
For years I have collected beehives: all shapes and sizes. I’m fascinated at the whole social structure of the hive. I believe home is very much like the beehive: where hard work produces the sweetest of rewards.
